Belén Cid-Garcia

Belén Cid-Garcia is the Director of Operations of Unemployed Workers United, (UWU). Belen was born and raised in a small town in Michoacan, Mexico. She was only 13 years old when she crossed the border with hopes of a new life. Being the oldest sibling, Belén left behind her mother and four younger siblings for the potential of a better life for all of them. Belén has worked and volunteered with many different nonprofits in Los Angeles,CA.

Most recently Belén was the Operations Coordinator at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) she helped to coordinate MALDEF’s national events. Before then Belen was the Operations and Outreach Coordinator for the CLEAN Carwash Campaign Network of the Korean Immigrant Worker Association. Since the age of 14 years old Belen volunteered and at times worked for the “Instituto de Educacion Popular del Sur de CA”, IDEPSCA where she organized with other immigrant youth around access to higher education and equity.
