Wacira Maina (he/him) is the Communications Specialist at Unemployed Workers United (UWU). Born and raised in New York City, Wacira has been passionate about organizing since traveling with his family to a phone bank in Pennsylvania for the Obama campaign in 2008. Prior to UWU he was a Digital Organizer with The Frontline where he led community meetings and hosted trainings to skill up the movement.
The proud son of immigrants and union members, Wacira strives to help create a more inclusive and progressive society so power can truly rest in the hands of the people. He can usually be found wondering aloud why in this day and age he still cannot find authentic Kenyan cuisine in Manhattan.
